Caio Collet

HMD Motorsports announced Sept. 12 that 2024 INDY NXT Rookie of the Year and race winner Caio Collet will return to the team in 2025, with one goal – winning the championship in the INDYCAR development series.

“I am excited to continue in INDY NXT and with HMD Motorsports,” Collet said. “Almost every track was new to me this season, so with a year under my belt, more experiences, knowledge, and knowing what to expect, I have my goals set high for 2025. Working with my engineer, Mike (Reggio), and the entire team has been great, and I know they have big goals as a program in 2025 and beyond.”

Collet, 22, from Brazil, is third in the standings entering the final race of his first season with HMD and in the series. He earned his first series victory from the pole in early July at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. He also has produced three second-place and one third-place finish this season.

“Caio is a talent behind the wheel, and his approach to each day, weekend, and season is like nobody else,” HMD President Mike Maurini said. “To do what he did in 2024 was impressive. After never driving on any of these tracks, seeing some of them for the first time on a race weekend, and with the lack of preseason testing due to weather-plagued test days, we expect Caio to be in the thick of the title hunt in 2025. He has a very bright future ahead of him.”

Live coverage of the season-ending Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway starts at 11:50 a.m. ET Sunday, Sept. 15 on Peacock (U.S.), INDYCAR LIVE (international) and the INDYCAR Radio Network.
